Hi, I’m Elis. I’m an artist, writer, kid-co-conspirator, and an abolitionist social worker. Some facts about me:
I am currently earning my Masters in Social Work with a focus on clinical counseling.
My goal is to be a child therapist. I’ve worked in education for many years am passionate about kids’ liberation.
I’m writing a memoir-ish, poetry-ish manuscript about growing up fat, black, and queer.
I understand myself within a lineage of spiritual sight: I listen deeply, I surrender, and sometimes I know things to be true that are still on horizons.
I love using parts work with myself and those who ask for my guidance, offering big feelings and experiences trust and curiosity.
I love theory (so much) but am more interested in practice. I’m heart driven, can be very silly, and have a very loud laugh.
Some intersecting topics I’m personally familiar talking through: body/desirability politics, racism/colorism within families, navigating poverty, relationship betrayal, working/studying in predominantly white institutions, Covid-consciousness, neurodivergence, lay-offs, religious trauma, classic eldest daughter issues, improving communication skills.
What being in a coaching session with me might look like: I’m so curious about you, but will follow your lead with how much you are willing to share. I look for moments of levity and joy to highlight them, but am comfortable with silence, grief, or rage. I will be listening deeply for your desires, goals, and patterns, and will meet you where you are. We will decide together how our coaching relationship will look.
