About

Inspired by the revolutionary life and legacy of the matriarch after whom Lauryn was named, Adele Khan, and Elis’ grandmother Ambrozine, we are honoring the calling from both of our lineages to offer space to talk through whatever you’re carrying. Our grandmothers were masters of making people feel seen and whole, of helping and healing, and making a way out of no way. This is our way of building on that legacy, and celebrating what they shaped into a life.

won’t you celebrate with me

Lucille Clifton, 1993

won't you celebrate with me

what i have shaped into

a kind of life? i had no model.

born in babylon

both nonwhite and woman

what did i see to be except myself?

i made it up

here on this bridge between

starshine and clay,

my one hand holding tight

my other hand; come celebrate

with me that everyday

something has tried to kill me

and has failed.
